This webinar was recorded December 12, 2023 by the Leadership Institute at Union Presbyterian Seminary. It is hosted by Chris Burton, Director of the Leadership Institute.
Our panelists are Rev. Katie Cashwell, Rev. Dr. Leonard Edloe, and David McDowell.
Rev. Dr. Leonard Edloe is the Pastor of New Hope Fellowship in Hartfield, Virginia and former C. E. O. of Edloe’s Professional Pharmacies in Richmond. He is an educator, having served on the clinical faculty of four colleges of pharmacy, the Executive-In Residence at the Longwood University School of Business and Economics, he is an Adjunct Professor of Christian Ethics at the John Leland Theological Center and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy.
Rev. Katie Cashwell is a graduate of Davidson College and Union Presbyterian Seminary. Katie has served churches in Annapolis, Maryland and Washington, D.C. and spent several years directing conferences at Montreat Conference Center. She currently serves as Associate Presbyter of Small Churches for the Presbytery of New Hope. In that role she resources and builds networks among small churches, provides opportunities for small church leadership development and ruling elder training, guides churches through transition, and reminds the good people of eastern and central North Carolina that Jesus was born in a small town.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi, David McDowell spent a decade and a half working in local elections and legislative advocacy in Mississippi and across the South.
During his attempts to shake off his call to Christian ministry, David represented organizations like the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Mississippi Votes in advocacy efforts to seek common ground in policymaking. Over the years, he has been encouraged to attend law school and always skirted the notion until he realized there was another type of Law worth studying further. David is seeking Masters degrees of Divinity and Public Theology, in a dual program designed to recognize and prioritize the role of social justice from a 21st Century Christian perspective. He is especially interested in growing the Presbyterian Church (USA), faith in action, and exploring hope in the Good News.
